I love birthdays.

It's my NWH's birthday!! He is a whopping 24 years old. The other day he said, “Am I going to be 24 or 25?” I said you are waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to young to be saying things like that!

I love birthdays. I think what I love most is just making people feel special ON their day because we all know… the older you get the LESS special they begin to feel.

When you’re a child, a birthday is like a holiday! Whether it’s a slumber, movie, or backyard party, a celebration given by Ronald McDonald or Chuck-E-Cheese, life revolves around that big day! But the magic gets lost the older we get, and that b-day turns into any other ordinary day of the week.

Well, I am bound and determined NOT to let that happen to my NWH. He’ll have presents, cake, and his favorite dinner. Here’s what he’s getting…

Nike Air Span +7 available at Dick's Sporting Goods.  (He saw these a few months ago, but they didn't have his size).

Southern Miss Golden Eagles Nike Coaching Polo available at Campus Book Mart.  He loves football and he loves being up-to-date in his Sporting apparel.

His favorite cologne.  MMMMmmmm...this stuff smells so good, and I noticed a few weeks ago that he was out so it's the perfect present!  Tell me how good I did on these presents!!

Now for the good stuff...the food!

We'll be having his favorite breakfast, blueberry muffins and for lunch we'll probably go out and get something.  Maybe eat at Chedders or a sports bar.  For dinner I'm cooking (YIKES)!  No, it's a meal that I've made several times in the past few married months.  Hey, when you find something that works....WORK IT!  It's my BBQ chicken (made in the Crockpot), cream potatoes (courtesy of my watching my mother-in-law make them a million times), peas, and croissants.  How YUM does that sound for a b-day dinner!

As for birthday cake, we still have an entire Bruster’s ice cream cake left over from this weekend in Knoxville.  We'll be cutting us a big slice of that today too!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  See you tomorrow for Wedding Word Wednesday!

P.S.  Here’s the receipts for those you interested!

BBQ Chicken (Crockpot Style)

Ingredients:
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 onion (sliced)
¼ cup of water
16 oz bottle of your fav BBQ sauce

Directions:
Slice your onion and use it to cover the bottom of your crockpot, pour in ¼ cup of water, place your chicken breast on top, and then cover them in your BBQ sauce.  Set Crockpot on high for 3.5-4 hours.  (You will love me if you try this!)

Cream Potatoes

Ingredients:
6-8 large red potatoes
Milk
Garlic SALT
¼ cup (1/2 stick) Butter
Hand Mixer

Directions:
Peel potatoes, then boil them until you can insert a fork straight through them (about 12 min).  Drain and add ½ stick of butter and begin mixing with a hand mixer.  Okay, this part is a little bit trickier!  I don’t know how much milk or garlic salt I add, but I gradually add the milk until it’s the consistency I like and taste with each addition of garlic salt (it’s takes a lot of this stuff).  Hint:  The more you mix the fewer lumps you’ll have.

Peas

Ingredients:
Can of peas
Butter
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:
Poor your peas into a small pot, add 2 table spoons of butter, and bring to a boil for a few minutes.  Reduce the heat and let simmer for 30-45 minutes.  The longer you cook these the better they are and the softer they become!  Add salt and pepper to taste.

Croissants

Ingredients:
Croissants (hahahaha)

Directions:
I buy Pillsbury garlic crescents and simply follow the directions on the package!

P.S.S.
Thank you followers for all of your encouraging words about moving yesterday!  Every time I got on my dashboard, I had another great comment.  I love ya'll and love blogging!!

  1. I love birthdays! It's sounds like your sweet husband will have a wonderful time celebrating his special day. There is just something about a man who wears cologne! Your dinner sounds fabulous!

A couple of years ago I decided that I would have birthday week. For one week out of the year I treat myself to little goodies ~ nothing over the top but rather taking the time to appreciate something fun or yummy each day. oh, it's delightful :)
